| With the help of Ray Langlois from the Village, and Mike
Reynolds from the Town, Historical Society President Allan Buddle
prepares to cut the ribbon to open the new Historical Society Museum in
the former office of the Trumansburg Home Telephone company building. |

Once the open flag was in place visitors were welcome to
view the new exhibits and enjoy visiting with friends and neighbors.
A Victory Garden Planter and new sign
greet visitors. |

A wall of
scenes from celebrations past, from the small to the large, community
and family greet visitors. Past Olde Home Days are recalled through
T-shirts, scrapbooks and guest books.

Once inside visitors were able to enjoy
many new exhibits including this exhibit displaying documentation
concerning the myths about the relocation of families in the Hector
Backbone Ridge area, the methods of the excavations, and the results of
those searches.
|
Across the room was the World
War II on the Home Front display with scrapbooks, photographs, ration
books and information on scrap drives and plane spotters. The loan of
maps, afghan (shown below) and an old style radio allowed for a feel of
the times. |

A perennial favorite, the memorabilia of the Civil War, has an
expanded display as well. |

Volunteers are the backbone of the
Interlaken Historical Society. Shown above are only three of many who
helped renovate the former telephone company office area into our new
museum and offices. A very heartfelt thank you each of you for the hours
you gave to provide this wonderful space. |
Another benefit of the
move to the new museum, the Historical Society has an office area where
volunteers can work to accession new items for the collection, work on
the many publications of the Society, and help visitors in need of
resources. |

| As part of the
Olde Home Day parade two old friends from the Interlaken Central School
Music department were honored by their former students, Bob "Duke"
Gerlach and Judy Craft preceded the ICS Band Alumni. |
Over 300 alumni, family members and friends of
Interlaken High School attended the All Alumni Reunion on Olde Home Day.

The Olde Home Day Parade
would not be complete without the vintage cars, trucks or this wonderful
working ladder truck. |
